Every family, every individual can contribute to the history of a county. In the U.S. our history is relatively short and therefore we have documented evidence of Founding Families. These are families that braved the wilderness, weathered all that nature could deliver and became a driving force in the formation of the county and the towns within it. Nassau County is particularly lucky to have had strong families that thrive there still.

My hope is that together we can provide mini-histories of each of these families. Entire books may be devoted to a family's genealogy and we may note them here. But for this web, my intent is to provide a one page synopsis of the first family members to come to the county and establish roots. If you have such a summary and would like to contribute it, please email me and I will add it. I will also include your name and email address if you want to have others contact you that are also interested in the family. Even if someone has already started a family page for that name, go ahead and add your piece. The more the merrier!
